The 6th Baghdad International Film Festival
his edition was held at the National Theater from October 15-19, 2014. It had 650 films from 40 countries, competed together in the festival competitions. also, French International Clermont-Ferrand Festival agreement and its film screenings was still on, as the fifth edition. In addition to films of female directors from Gaza were shown also. In this edition we highlighted our request to the Ministry of Culture and the government to pay attention to the festival, which has expanded and become greater than the capabilities of a civil institution. that is looking for sponsors every year. And we called for paying attention for a financial allocation that would avoid stumbling blocks after it was expanded and had more requests from film directors, media professionals, journalists and those concerned with cinema to attend the festival.
The festival screened the Iraqi film “Al haj Najem Al bakal” directed by Amer Alwan This edition also made films screening of “premiere” in Baghdad that was a precedent in Iraq as well as the festival editions. Within the series of seminars, the Sixth International Symposium for the Advancement of Iraqi Cinema. And an intensive film production workshop for 2015.
