The 6th Baghdad International Film Festival
The second festival edition was held in 26-29 December 2007. At AL Meridien Hotel, Palestine. The festival was delayed for a whole year for two reasons, The first is that Iraq, especially Baghdad, was drowned in blood, as a result of sectarian and religious strife, weak security, intensified political conflict, and occupation resistance groups. Secondly, there was no festival sponsor in this atmosphere. And because we are determined to continue, we succeeded in convincing the Al-Hurriya channel
It is good to mention that we did not put the date, time and place on the festival posters in anticipation of the security situation. Despite this, the festival was unparalleled, attended by those concerned with cinema and culture and politicians who promised us support. The festival included a new section, which is organizing of photographic exhibitions. As a result of this success, the curators of Al-Hurriya TV promised us to be also sponsors for the next edition, and they did not keep their promise. we would like to refer here to the main role of films critic Salah Sarmini in this edition, as he contributed internationally to support of the festival.
